The Fruitland Recreational Park and Annex are located across the street from each other on Brown Street in Fruitland. The complex is an incredible resource for both youth and adult sports in the community and the City takes great pride in the park. The Recreational Park spans 27 acres and provides four Little League baseball fields, one adult softball field and two soccer fields (one large and one small). There are also two concessions buildings, restroom facilities, a pavilion with picnic tables and a grill, a large playground area and horseshoe pits. The baseball fields are used by the Fruitland Little League which includes the following divisions: 5/6 year olds, 7/8 year olds, Minor League, Major League, Junior League, and Senior League. The Park Annex, which spans 11 acres, provides two additional softball fields, a Senior Little League field, a small soccer field, a lighted football/lacrosse field (Red Men Field), two concessions buildings with restrooms, a pavilion with picnic tables, a playground area and a walking trail. Red Men Field is home to the Fruitland Falcons Youth Sports Organization which includes programs in youth football, lacrosse, and cheerleading. The softball fields are home to the County’s Junior Girls’ Softball Program and are also used for large tournaments such as the USSSA World Series. The Fruitland Recreational Park and Annex is not maintained by the Department of Recreation, Parks, and Tourism but is still considered a county park as significant funding was provided in its development through Maryland’s Open Space Program. The facility is currently maintained by the City of Fruitland and managed by the Fruitland Recreation Commission. For more information about the park, including rental information, please visit www.cityoffruitland.com or call City Hall at 410-548-2800. |
